gameplaywise, it's not bad or anything. I'd say it's just a little run-of-the-mill. But as far as first impressions goes, that's pretty much where I'm at with it. I am enjoying it so far.

I actually think this is a pretty good update. And while it's not perfect by any means, there's no like, you know, proper side quests or side content to do outside of these challenges.

I hope we get more games like Mafia willing to subvert the notion that player freedom is the thing to chase above all else. The world of Mafia: The Old Country might be brutally restrictive, brutally violent, and ultimately illusory, but at least the game is honest.
I kind of like this actually. It's just a very chill game that's not getting bogged down with huge amounts of open world nonsense or anything. Instead, it's just a fairly small game that's very focused on the story it wants to tell. It's pretty. It's atmospheric. It tells a good story.
I personally really really enjoyed Mafia the Old Country... I recommend that you play it if you like narrative games like this.
if you like the idea of a really good narrative, Mafia the Old Country seems to deliver it across the board... it's the gameplay where it's not breaking any boundaries... it does enough to keep you engaged over the course of a short 10 to 12 hour story, but ultimately you're playing it for the story.
I sorta recommend it
it's slop. It's modern-day slop... it's a disgrace to mafia. It really is. And it's just typical of 2025 gaming.
